Welcome to Rhodes Dogs
|
|
Since 1990 we are looking after poor, abandoned and injured dogs on the island of Rhodes.
Our main focus is to reduce the population of stray dogs by castrations. Here, we co-operate with a Greek vet on Rhodes. This is the only way how we can prevent future misery.
Moreover, we inoculate and deworm the dogs and provide them with food and love. Most of these dogs already went through hell before they came to us.
The next step is to re-home these dogs to Germany / Austria / Switzerland.
With our work we try to achieve that one day there will be no more hungry, tortured and abandoned dog on Rhodes.

On average, there is approx. 40 dogs in our shelter, this also includes many puppies.
On the following pages, we would like to present our dogs and our work to you.
The shelter is located in the South-East of the island. Enclosed a few impressions:
As you can see, the cages are only put together provisionally as we do not have funds to buy proper ones. But they offer the dogs enough space for running and playing and also provide many shady patches for a snooze.
Unfortunately, we do not have any running water at the premises, therefore we have to collect the drinking water for the dogs for a well in the village and drive it to the dog shelter with our little van.
